Delivery types
Since Sellvio boasts a wide range of payment methods, it is no surprise that the platform also offers a broad variety of delivery options. This extensive selection ensures that business owners can meet different customer preferences and shipping requirements, making the shopping experience both convenient and flexible. Let's dive into the world of Sellvio's delivery options and explore the possibilities they offer to improve the online shopping journey.
Sellvio offers two types of delivery methods:
- Standard delivery types
- Special delivery types
Standard Delivery types
There is no limit to the number of standard delivery methods that business owners can create. This flexibility allows business owners to finely tune the payment process to meet their unique business needs and customer preferences.
- Name – the name of the delivery method.
- Active – only active delivery methods are displayed on the checkout page.
- To search for a specific delivery method, simply type its name into the search bar and click the "magnifying glass" icon.
- Administrators can manually arrange the order in which delivery methods appear on the checkout page.
- By clicking the "edit" button, store owners can modify existing delivery methods.
- New delivery methods can be added at any time by clicking the "Add New" button.
Adding or editing standard delivery type
To add more customization options, Sellvio allows configuring standard delivery methods either as traditional shipping options or convenient store pickup locations.
Creating a pickup location
- Name – The name of the standard delivery method. This name will also appear on the checkout page, so it must be provided in all languages used by the webshop.
- Description – A brief description of the delivery method. This text will also appear on the checkout page, so it must be provided in all languages used by the webshop.
- Active – Determines whether the delivery method can be used during payment. Deactivated delivery methods will not be available to store customers on the checkout page.
- Pickup location – Marks the delivery method as a pickup location for collecting the package.
- Fields related to the address – These fields define the address of the pickup location. The address will also be visible to customers on the checkout page.
WARNING: For pickup location delivery methods, customers do not need to enter a shipping address during checkout, as it is assumed that they will personally collect their orders.
Creating a Standard delivery type
- Name – The name of the standard delivery method. This name will also appear on the checkout page, so it must be provided in all languages used by the webshop.
- Description – A brief description of the delivery method. This text will also appear on the checkout page, so it must be provided in all languages used by the webshop.
- Active – Determines whether the delivery method can be used during payment. Deactivated delivery methods will not be available to store customers on the checkout page.
For standard delivery methods, the "Pickup Location" option should be turned off. Instead, it is recommended that store owners define the shipping price for the new standard delivery methods on the "Shipping Price" page.
Each standard delivery method has three possible pricing options:
- Free Shipping
- Fixed Price – This option allows setting a fixed shipping price, while providing flexibility for offering free shipping on orders above a specified cart total.
- Weight-based Price – This option allows configuring weight-based shipping prices, while providing flexibility for offering free shipping on orders above a specified cart total.
Let's take a closer look at all the pricing options:
Free Shipping
Free Shipping is the simplest of the three options.
WARNING: By default, this option will be enabled for all newly created standard delivery methods in the administration.
Fix price
- Fixed price – The fixed total shipping cost for a specific delivery method.
- Free shipping – An optional field that allows store owners to offer free shipping for orders exceeding the specified cart total entered in the field.
Weight price
As mentioned in the Payment type section, this is where the distinction between cash on delivery and bank transfer-based payment methods becomes important.
Store owners can define different weight pricing structures for the delivery method, depending on whether the customer uses a bank transfer or cash on delivery.
The number of ranges that can be added is not limited.
Administrators can add another range at any time by clicking the "Add" button.
For a range to be valid, the following fields must be filled out:
- From grams – The lower limit of the weight range in grams.
- To grams – The upper limit of the weight range in grams.
- Price – The price for the weight range.
Free Shipping – An optional field that allows store owners to offer free shipping for orders that exceed the specified cart total entered in the field.
Special shipping types
In Sellvio, "Special shipping types" refer to third-party couriers.
These shipping options are typically tied to the specific country of the online store. It's important to note that not all couriers are available in every country. Therefore, the availability of these special shipping methods depends on the store's country.
The availability and activation of special shipping methods does not necessarily mean they are immediately usable for payments. Every courier must sign a contract or agreement with the store owner.
This contract allows the store owner to acquire the necessary parameters from the provider, which are then used to configure the shipping method in Sellvio.
These special shipping methods offer the same pricing configuration options as the regular shipping methods.
More information on Special Shipping type can be found here.
Let's briefly review the different status labels associated with special shipping methods:
- Not Usable with your settings (Check the country and currency settings under general settings) – This indicates that the store's country setting is NOT supported by the payment provider.
- Supported – This means that the payment provider supports the store's country setting.
- Active (Green) – The courier is active and properly configured.
- Active (Red) – The courier is active and properly configured, but due to a recent change in the store's country settings, the delivery method is temporarily not supported.
