Webshop categories
Webshop categories serve as the fundamental organizational framework within an online store, grouping related products into distinct sections. These categories function like aisles in a physical retail store, helping customers browse and find products efficiently.
Similar to event and article categories, webshop categories can follow a hierarchical structure.
The Webshop Categories administration screen can be accessed from the sidebar under Webshop → Categories.
- Name - The name of the category. This column also displays the hierarchical position of the webshop category in the table.
- Visible - Indicates whether the webshop category is active in the specified language. If a category is not active for a particular language, it will not be accessible or displayed in the webshop when customers browse in that language.
- Categories can be manually sorted by clicking and dragging the "arrows" icon. Subcategories can only be arranged within their respective level.
- By clicking the "edit" button, store owners can modify existing categories.
- If a category is no longer needed, store owners can delete it by clicking the "trash" icon.
- New categories can be created anytime by clicking the "Add New" button.
Adding and Editing Webshop Categories
Basic tab
Similar to other category types within the system, webshop categories are created in the default language of the webshop.
- Parent Category - Specifies the parent category for a subcategory. To create a new top-level category, simply leave this field empty.
- Name - The name of the category in the store's default language.
- Active - Determines whether the webshop category is active in the store's default language. Categories will not appear in languages where they are disabled. The category page will also be inaccessible to customers browsing the webshop in a language where the category is disabled.
- Image - The category's cover image.
- Description - Details about the category. This field allows administrators to create and edit content with a visual representation similar to the final output. It enables users to format text, insert images, and design the main category description to reflect how it will appear to the store's customers.
Translations tab
On the Translations tab, administrators can provide translations for the webshop category in all active languages used in the store. This step is essential before activating the category.

- Description - Administrators can provide a description in the selected language to offer concise information about the webshop category. This content functions the same way as in the default language.
- Active - This setting determines whether the webshop category is available in the selected language. If disabled, the category will not be accessible or displayed in the selected language.
- OG Title - The Open Graph title for the category. It helps control how the page title appears when shared on social platforms, making it more user-friendly and appealing to an online audience.
- OG Description - The Open Graph description for the category.
Marketing tab
The Marketing section allows administrators to set Open Graph (OG) data for the webshop category in the store's primary language.
Store owners can also define the number of points customers earn when purchasing products assigned to the category.
- Points - The points customers can earn based on the product price when purchasing items assigned to the category.
