Special Shipping Methods

This chapter provides an overview of each specialized delivery type (service) supported by Sellvio.

Please note that not all shipping services are available in every country.

IMPORTANT: All shipping service extensions associated with Sellvio require the store owner's company to establish a contract with the respective shipping company that will be offered to customers during the checkout process.

Once the contract is signed between the store owner and the shipping company, the company will provide the necessary credentials and configuration parameters to the store owner. These can then be entered into the configuration fields within the Sellvio extension's configuration form.

For general information about shipping methods, please refer to this article. Now, let's review each specialized shipping method provided by Sellvio.

GLS

GLS is a global courier and logistics company offering parcel delivery and express shipping services. Operating in multiple countries and regions, GLS services include domestic and international parcel delivery, express courier services, and various logistics solutions.

Sellvio requires businesses operating webshops to establish a contract with GLS to obtain the configuration parameters necessary for the plugin. Setting up GLS in Sellvio is a quick and straightforward process once these parameters are provided.

The settings for GLS specialized shipping types can be accessed from the sidebar under Settings → Shipping Methods, then switching to the Special Shipping Types tab.

IMPORTANT: The current version of the Sellvio GLS plugin is not supported in Serbia.

  1. The language tabs allow for language-specific settings for all active languages in the webshop.
  2. Name: This field lets administrators assign a name to the service within the selected language from the list at the top of the service settings panel. This name will appear to customers during checkout.
  3. Description: This field allows administrators to provide a brief description or help text for the service in the selected language from the list at the top of the service settings panel. This text will be displayed as help text related to the shipping type during checkout.
  4. Visibility: This option controls the visibility of the shipping option at checkout, even if it is marked as active. Visiting the link specified in this section makes the shipping option accessible to the logged-in administrator. This workflow allows testing the shipping option on a live site without making it visible to customers.
  5. Mode: This setting allows administrators to switch between test and live modes. The test mode is primarily for testing purposes. The provider supplies both test and live parameters for store owners. These parameters can be configured separately for each mode by toggling between the two modes.
  6. Active: Determines whether the service is active or not. If deactivated, the shipping option will not be available at checkout for customers or administrators, regardless of whether the service is in test or live mode.
  7. Username: The username used for authentication with GLS.
  8. Password: The password required for authentication with GLS.
  9. Customer ID: A unique identifier associated with the business or customer using GLS logistics and parcel services.
  10. Store Name: The name of the webshop.

  12. Shipping Price Type: Similar to general shipping types, administrators can specify the shipping price type to be used and configure its options. For a quick overview, refer to this article again.
  13. Store Address: Lastly, store owners need to provide additional information about the webshop's address, as this is necessary for GLS services. Since the fields are self-explanatory, a detailed description of each specific field is omitted.

IMPORTANT: For testing purposes, the username, password, customer ID, webshop name, and contact name should be provided in test mode, while the live username, password, customer ID, webshop name, and contact name should be provided in live mode.

Once everything is correctly configured and tested, store owners simply need to set the Mode option to live and ensure the shipping type is active and visible.

All the above-mentioned fields can be viewed in the screenshot provided on the following page.

IMPORTANT: In Sellvio, the City Express shipping mode is only supported in Serbia.

  1. Using the language tabs, the language-specific settings for all currently active languages of the webshop can be accessed.
  2. Name – This field allows administrators to assign a name to the service in the selected language, visible in the list at the top of the service settings panel. This name will appear as the shipping option during checkout for webshop customers.
  3. Description – This field allows administrators to provide a brief description or help text for the service in the selected language, visible at the top of the service settings panel. This text will appear as a tooltip for customers at checkout regarding the shipping option.
  4. Visibility – This option controls the visibility of the shipping option at checkout, even if it is marked as active. By visiting the provided link, the shipping option will be available to the logged-in administrator. This process allows testing the shipping option on a live site without making it visible to regular customers.
  5. Mode – This setting allows administrators to switch between test and live modes. The test setting is mainly for testing purposes. The provider gives separate parameters for both test and live modes, and these can be configured separately by switching between the two modes.
  6. Active – Determines whether the service is active or not. If deactivated, the shipping option will not be available to customers or administrators at checkout, regardless of whether it is in test or live mode.
  7. API Key – The identifier provided by City Express.
  8. Synchronization – Synchronize cities and postal codes from the City Express database.
  9. Shipping Price Type – Under shipping price settings, the webshop owner can define general or weight-based pricing in case the customer selects City Express for their order's delivery.
  10. Pickup Locations – Under the pickup locations settings, the pickup locations and their details can be added.
